Now it's out there! After 12 months, the Herbst appliance was expanded today with me. The successes and my assessment for the autumn hinge I have written extensively on this blog. More pictures of the autumn's here hinge.
The expansion itself was quick and easy. The metal crowns were milled with a small drill and were then released from the tooth with some force (even if, according to Mrs Dr. Klingler else is easier). And teeth are still there and actually have survived seem to come in under the spacer including crown inlays and amalgam fillings intact. What was somewhat time consuming, was the removal of the plastic and adhesive residues and the subsequent polishing. The teeth feel always a little rough.

The feeling without autumn hinge / spacer is not all that unusual. It feels free and light and overall very good. Only when biting you have to get used to it again, that you chew on his own teeth and not to the metal crowns and that the guide off by telescopic rods .
After removing the hinge autumn / Spacers implemented two brackets and new brackets bonded to the upper and lower jaw (how I have described here ). The brackets I need to now about who to April 2011 (ie a further 10 months). The reason, according to Dr. Klingler, that when adult teeth should be moved carefully to ensure they are properly established later. Also new is a spring down the right, one of the back teeth will move back a little. In addition, I will
first night only rubber bands on both sides That use connecting the brackets of the upper jaw with the brackets of the lower jaw and speaking and biting corresponding tensile forces exerted on the teeth. These gums can be seen clearly with me, and I like to think of it before quite uncomfortable to wear it longer or during the day. But we'll see ... so far I am certainly very pleased and Basilea is the reclaimed freedom of my teeth.
