Masterbait Instructional

GREAT BRITAIN : BA strike and London-Gatwick

Hello, dear reader, I was actually still

never been to London Gatwick?. Is this really true?.
Yes, all the other London airports are in my log book, along with some others, but today should be my first flight from Gatwick.
But, thanks to British Airways was not all that easy!.

Just hours after my return from Bosnia, I am already back ready for the next flight.
Or we can say that, I was at least on the way, the last four of twenty flights this week to take trip in the books!.

Here is the current route map:

reporter's trip flights on a larger map

Well, the nice staff of British Airways.
"Individual calls are not answered, we contact each passenger before the flight booked.
So far, so good, but from my personal experience, I'll look around, a week before my flight without contact, for other options. British Airways
shows on the website that my flight date is one of the strike data. We
about an exotic leasing, € atlantic, Astraeus or Jet2?.
For such cases, I have the mileage on the frequent flyer accounts.
A nice surprise that Flying Blue holds a 10,000 miles now for my date, Stuttgart-Amsterdam-London-Heathrow, arriving later than on the direct flights with British Airways, but that my connection should be possible.
Flying Blue Miles tickets offer the possibility of this also cancel at short notice and credit the miles again to leave.
Reserved few minutes.
Well, what we expect from British Airways?.
No calls or other contact, and when I arrived at the site on Thursday and Friday night viewed my reservation is not accepted with my code, my company is gone. The ticket price is then about two weeks later on my credit card account.
My cell phone is calling me on Sunday morning at 04.15 clock, not now for the flight on British Airways at 07.00 clock, no KLM fill the gap.

STR (Stuttgart Airport) planned
AMS (Amsterdam Schiphol Airport)

Service conducted in 1866 by KLM KL KLM City Hopper
: 06:55 / 08:20

at the airport at 06.15 clock, ten minutes before boarding.
The taxes for the flight to Amsterdam is about 40th - €'s.
No waiting at the security checkpoint, rain and only 11 degrees.
Online check-in works perfectly for me on KLM's website, space 16A, the correct position between the wing and the engine of the Fokker 70, two more places here for me.
The machine is at the gate, night stop in Stuttgart.

No characters for a delay just before the boarding gate for my flight of 316

only seconds after starting my photo boarding, very punctual.
The Fokker 70 is planned here, PH-KZA, since you received on 02/07/1996 at City Hopper, one of 26 of these aircraft in the fleet. Flight No. 7 for me on this type and a new registration.
A man, a woman in the cabin. A great joy ROYAL welcome here.
Germany, the night before the European Song Contest and won the flight attendants have been following the show.
I am the last passenger when boarding and am greeted at the door of the cabin crew with us as a congratulations and wants to tell us the name of the winner.
And the winner is the winner is, "Lena," but what is your full name?.
I am also not in this thing, but another passenger, help and he welcomes us once again with the full name and the title of the song, "Satellite", very nice.
The cabin is equipped with the comfortable, old-fashioned cloth seats,
well used, but clean.
The foot space is ok and it is very loud, louder than my last flight in this aircraft.
The load factor is about 80%

The cabin

The security card

It is 06.50 clock, almost on time, start of the 3345 meters of track 25, the flight time is 1 hour and 5 minutes, the route leads us at 33 000 feet above Frankfurt.
Very detailed information from the Dutch pilots before the flight to Amsterdam

The service is very good, two times coffee and tea on the short flight

landing on the 3300 meter track 18C at 08.05 clock, 15 minutes before the scheduled time.
The weather in Amsterdam is not really better, 13 degrees and rain.

Parked on the apron

AMS (Amsterdam Schiphol Airport)
LHR (London Heathrow Airport)

Service carried out in 1009 KL Designed by KLM
: 10.20 / / 10:45

How about the Boeing 737-900, something new for my logbook?.
KLM changes the machines on the 737 routes very often, according to the load.
in the terminal then up the stairs, let's see if we can find a nice place for the next flight. Looks
time again about 40th - € `s duty to which they plug

Should I even go to the gate?.
But no, in this nice place of the central area, quiet, comfortable and good view of the apron

An Airbus A330 in front of it

And the MD11 is still in use, hopefully in August!

not the right decision today.
Boarding is indicated for 09.30 clock, very early in the 10.20 clock flight.
When I got to passport control for non-Schengen flights'm back,
is hardly possible to see the switch. Thousands of passengers in front, so it feels.
And with no real order between European and non-European switches is a big mess here.
The border police does not default-looking passengers from the queues were not that thrilled.
more than twenty minutes of waiting time, the boarding time is over when I'm at my gate.
The machine is here, boarding has not yet begun

Looks like a 737-800

PH-BXC It is actually a 737-800, in service with KLM since 06.30.1999 with the name "Grouse / Koerhoen.
One of 21 in the KLM fleet.
re-registration is a new flight for me and number 49 on the 737-800

At the entrance to the gate there is still an extra security check, I wait until the other passengers boarded, and am one of the last gate D41 .
Online check-in as the number 30 as the last row, I'm in 30F. This is the last row, the aisle seat is occupied by eien African women, the middle seat remains empty.
OK, when the occupancy of nearly 100% and a good number of re-booked passengers from British Airways.
standby passengers were waiting at the gate

Dark blue cloth seats in the cabin, less leg room than on the Fokker 70th

My seat

The security card also shows the lack of 737-900

start of the 3500 meters of track 24, it is 10.20 clock, time, rain and the temperature is 13 degrees.
Three women and two men in the service,
ok, but not as friendly as on the earlier flight.
The cockpit crew is from the Netherlands, detailed information from the pilot shortly after takeoff.
The entire flight is restless, with the seat belt sign on, for almost all the time. The flight time is only 50 minutes to 24 000 feet.

Over the water

drinks and snacks in the service.
And as usual in London, some circles of the city

A very interesting approach, as in a flight

sights in a picture

attractions in the city

landing on the 3901 meter track 27R clock at 10.20, 25 minutes ahead of schedule, my exact departure time in Amsterdam, but with an hour time difference. It is now 11.20 clock in Amsterdam.
clouds and 17 degrees here.
Qantas A380 at London Heathrow
Virgin A340-600

€ atlantic on a mission for British Airways

On the train

Boarding for the next flight is indicated for 13.30 clock,
means that about 3 hours now to get to Gatwick,
possible or not?.
The non-stop flight by British Airways would have arrived already at 07.50 clock. No experiments
local train today, I'll take the Heathrow Express for about 16 - pound to Paddington.
The change at Heathrow Central takes more time than expected and I am in the City at 11.30 clock.
4 pounds for the subway, even that will significantly more time than expected, with many visitors to London this Sunday morning. At 12.15 am I
clock at Victoria Station. The next
Gatwick Express is waiting, booked for about 15 - pound
and then I am, shortly before 13.00 clock in Gatwick, early
not go as planned, but soon enough.

LGW (London-Gatwick Airport)
DUS (Dusseldorf International)

BE service performed in 1005 planned by Flybe
: 14.00 clock / / 16.30 clock

It is Flybe, which I to bring to Dusseldorf, but still advance my impressions of Gatwick.
The current starts, my flight is on time

The security controls are specifically here, I'm waiting in front of a checkpoint
it is closed, the staff sent us around the corner to another station.
How I like this non-frequent flyer, if I'm just in time!.
A couple with two children, grandmother and grandfather before me, that takes years to finally have the control, the shoes made for him, not for me.
few minutes later I'm in the big shopping mall, no view of the runway but better then near 92nd at my gate
Afriqiyah to Tripoli and Viking from Sweden

TAP and 747 of Virgin

The apron with the bridge Posted in the background

A better view of the bridge

I have here on Flybe's website directly for around 60.00 Euro's.
online check-in is possible, but the seating is free only for a previous
paid reservation.
Therefore, I use, whenever possible, the machines at the airport for Flybe.
Not today, with my short time between the airports.
I check in online and receive no question, an aisle seat.
I hope for a better seat on the plane, but on this large number of passengers Gate, just unlikely.
by bus to the aircraft, but we need a bus, or not?.
That's probably new to the staff here, a long wait for us on a free bus.
A first look at my machine

It's G-ECOO, the proposed Dash 8-400, in service with British Airways since 30.01.2009. The airline currently operates 53
machines of this type and this is my route No. 11 on the Dash 8-400. Again, a new registration for my logbook.

repairs to the hull?

My favorite spot under the wing

Light blue leather seats in the cabin, clean, the place is feeling ok. The cabin

Two Women-friendly standard of service, nothing special
The security card

The cockpit crew is from the UK, the pilot with a nice welcome during boarding.
clock is 14.05, almost on time, the sky is cloudy and the temperature is 18 degrees.
start of the 3316 meters 26L for 1 hour and 5 minutes to Dusseldorf.
The load factor at near 100% as far as to change my seat options.
10B is my place on that flight.
No free service from Flybe.
The co-pilot logs during the approach with the current weather data.
Well, the weather, low clouds, heavy rain and 15 degrees.
The landing is ok at 16.15 clock, 15 minutes ahead of schedule on the 3000 meter track 23L.
Parked on the apron and the bus to the terminal.

DUS (Dusseldorf International)
STR (Stuttgart Airport)

Service Lufthansa LH 906 performed planned by Contact Air
: 18.50 / / 19.50

A change to the A- gates in the security area is not possible to
go to a few meters then in the terminal after passport control.
No waiting at the security control to the Lufthansa area.
Not the perfect place here, from my point of view, no vending machines, only a small shop next to the magazine shop.
remains two restaurants / bars to drink something for nothing else than to use one of these expensive bars.
I've booked via Expedia, the best deal for this flight for about 70th - €'s.
surprise, my machine is already at the gate A80

It is D-AFKB in Star Alliance livery, a Fokker 100 as planned.
Used by Merpati from 03/12/1994, to South America to
TAM on 7/1/1998, again on returning to Asia to Mandarin 01.07.2004.
Now it is time for Europe to KLM Cityhopper on 09.07.2008 and Contact Air since 17.03.2009.
One of 8 in the Contact fleet, the latest copy.
flight No. 14 for me on the Fokker 100 and a new registration.

Condor leads the ranking for delay, just 15 hours after Tenerife

Ah, once again, the built-in steps

The old-fashioned cabin

space 17A, secured during the online check-in's, two seats for me here.
The beautiful magazine

Comfortable, modern, hard leather seats, the cabin looks like freshly renovated.
Very good place feeling that the utilization is at about 60%

The German pilot with a very friendly welcome during boarding.
No improvement in the weather, dark storm clouds in sight,
We drive very slowly to the station again 23L.
Today is not the day for the frightened passengers while waiting at the entrance to the station, we see three go-around at low altitude.
a machine, a regional jet 700 from Lufthansa City Line is the main landing gear on the floor and then starts again.
A Dash 8-400 airberlin / LGW and a BAE 146 of WDL
are on final approach and start both.
Too much water on the train?.
clock at 18.55, the train then ok for us, almost on time, the temperature is 13 degrees and we start very fast and steep, the clouds soon to leave again.

The flight time is 45 minutes. Two
Women in the cabin, ok so far.
Nothing special reports from top

also the German co-pilot shortly after take-off, he explained the situation in great detail.
No service today, because of expected turbulence.
Nothing special then, but a little uneasy. Many
curves during the entire flight to the towering clouds.

clouds via Stuttgart

landing on runway 25 at 20.10 clock, 20 minutes late under cloudy skies but without thunderstorms and 15 degrees.
A finger-gate waiting for us

quick from the security area and with the car on the way home.
The last of 20 flights of this Week in my logbook.

Gatwick is interesting to visit if I were going.

Now there are close for three weeks, until after a trip to Denmark.

"No more Wings of Bornholm Ronne"

is the title of the next story.

soon, the trip
