Can My Company Make Me Move Location?

My orthodontic glossary

After 1 1 / 2 years in the hands of the orthodontist, to learn yet so familiar with some terms that are used repeatedly, is not open to the laity the same. So here's my little orthodontic Glossary:

FDI tooth scheme
11th first upper right incisor. When FDI tooth scheme each tooth a number is assigned. The first digit represents the quadrant (1: top right; 2: top left; 3, bottom left, 4 bottom right). The second number represents the tooth, which is 1, the first incisor and 8, the last molar.

28th Last molar upper left.

sheets (including wire arches or arch wire). Pre-bent wires made of metal. You are brackets and straps attached to the teeth to exert a force on it. Thermoplastic sheets cooled soft and flexible. Thus they can be uneven teeth in thread better when they were cooled with a cooling spray something. In the course of treatment, the initially thin sheets are replaced by an increasing level.

brackets (English: mount, bracket). small holders for the sheets that are bonded to the teeth. Brackets can be metal (eg titanium), plastic (transparent color but fast), ceramic (tooth colored transparent, can, however, difficult to remove) or can be made sapphire (transparent like glass). For receiving and mounting brackets of the arch with a lock or slot provided. My experience with the transparent Spahir brackets ...

archwires . Arches

see Transparent brackets. Are either made of plastic (color fast), ceramics (transparent, but can be difficult to remove from the tooth) or sapphire (transparent like glass) made (see brackets).

rubber / elastic bands . Small latex rubber bands that come in different sizes. They are attached to the hooks of the brackets, for example, be used by a number of further pull out and sit up. Who wants to see how it looks with me, click here ...

Herbst appliance. apparatus that was invented by Emil Herbst in 1934 and serves to push back teeth in the upper jaw to the back to stimulate the length growth in the service delivery (the youth) and to correct the jaw position (important for tinnitus and Kaugeräuschen). The Herbst hinge consists of small telescopic poles, set by using crowns or other fasteners for several months to be installed in the mouth. In this blog I describe my experience with the Herbst appliance: functioning of autumn hinge ; variants of the autumn hinge ; frequent questions about the Herbst appliance .

chain rubber
chain rubber (English chain elastics). Small rubber that look like chains. They can span between brackets and teeth and attached to something like the small hooks of the brackets.

ligatures (Latin: connect): Small wires with which the sheets in the brackets (brackets) are secured by twisting. Ligaturdrähte can also be used to connect multiple teeth with one another.

liquidation. orthodontists often refer to their bill as a liquidation, making it a business concept not quite correct use. The original invoice must be sent to the private (supplementary) insurance. If you send only the copy, one waits in vain for a refund.

multiband (MB) or fixed orthodontic appliance. The set of brackets, sheets and strips (3 Bs). Brackets are the small holders for the sheets that are bonded to the teeth. About a lock the brackets are connected to the wire loop. For the back teeth, the locks are sometimes attached to a thin steel strips that are placed around the tooth.

OR. for O-ring (English and Elastic Ligature). Small O-shaped Gums, which are used as elastic ligatures to hold the archwires in the brackets (see also ligatures). Sometimes the chain as a rubber O-ring chain are known. O-Rings come in many colors.

Sapphire Bracket
sapphire brackets : Clear brackets, which are cut from a single sapphire. Unlike other transparent brackets they turn not. Sapphire brackets are used for aesthetic reasons, especially for the upper incisors.

Shorty (trademark). This is the name the Orthodontic practice in Bath Saulgau their short version of the autumn hinge, where the force of the telescopic rod is specifically assigned to only one tooth in the upper and lower jaw. Overall, therefore, only four teeth at times with a metal cap crowned. see also spacer.

Spacer (trademark). The culture of the Orthodontic practice in Bath Saulgau their long version of the autumn hinge, in which several teeth, crowns and joints are connected together. A total of eight teeth to be temporarily capped with a metal cap. In this blog I describe the functioning of autumn Hinge and spacer .

Thermal Arc (see also forms). A heat-sensitive wire loop that is attached to the brackets. In cold weather it is soft at body temperature, it takes its pre-bent shape again and thereby exerts a force on the teeth. Is especially true if the teeth are still wrong, because it can be cooled with a cold spray and then the easier it is to thread. If you want something even remove the pressure or reduce the tension, easy to eat an ice cream.

wound around brackets. If the teeth have moved, it can be necessary brackets have to be glued again to continue the movement. Here, the old Bracket dissolved from the tooth, the tooth is re-sealed and a new bracket is glued to the new tooth. Wound around the bracket is not really a wound around, but a removal of the old brackets and bonding of new brackets.

blocking . This means that several teeth by wires (see ligatures) temporarily attached securely so that they can no longer move. For example, prevent blockages from forming large gaps between teeth.
