Fainting With Eyes Opened Wide

United Kingdom: Edinburgh and the Embraer 195

Hello, dear readers,

two days in office, after my return from France and already I'm back on the road.
time for something new, a type of aircraft and an airport.

The preparations for this trip back into April.

Here is the current route map:

reporter's trip flights on a larger map

STR (Stuttgart Airport)
BHX (Birmingham International Airport)

Service BE 7122 carried out Designed by British Airways
: 10.20 / / 11:35

an absolutely unusual time for me that day.
The first flight is scheduled to begin at 10.20 clock, no need for a special wake-up call.
On the other hand, the rush-hour traffic on the highway to the airport is not really predictable.
Do I need an hour or two, it depends on the dam's.
I leave my office at home at 07.00 clock.
Another reason for me to make time on the road, the
situation, no seating during online check-in at the Flybe website or just have a fee.
ie always an aisle seat, but not for me today. Something special happened during
posting to the Flybe website. When I run the company, the system responds with an error message and the advice that should I turn to Flybe.
two flights for the route number 2 in the offer, I'll take the fast connection, the first on the list.
I check my mail, as always in these situations and see a surprise, a flight confirmation, but not for the first, but for the later flight from Birmingham.
Fortunately for me, the window with the error message is still open,
I make a copy and send it to British Airways with my story.
two or three days later, a nice employee logs on my phone, interesting, He speaks to me in German and I answer in English.
He is going to change my reservation on the earlier flight and should I print in about a week a new confirmation of the "My Bookings" page.
is little more than a week later, the new timetable there, very good service here at Flybe.
The price for this flight is approximately 40.00 €'s.
I park the car and am in Terminal 1, on Flybe switch about two hours before departure.
Two men from the UK are waiting and soon after an employee comes around the corner and prepares the switch.
window last row for me, 21A, which is worth the early way here. Two places then me in Aircraft.
The weather is very nice, I'm going again to the station to take a little engine noise.
Back in the terminal at 09:30 clock, which is printed on my boarding classic paper for 09.50 clock.
A long queue at the security checkpoint in Terminal 1, not better in Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 in even longer, with many travelers.
But there are still Terminal 4, are not always open today with a SunExpress Flights to Izmir we will try. The departures
my flight as No.1, ok on the second page

And the arrivals, two minutes ahead of schedule from Birmingham

In Terminal 4 we see passengers on these flights

only want three or four passengers before me at the security checkpoint,
the staff at the entrance, probably a trainee, not let me.
"It is not possible that they go here by the control," she says to me.
"Why, all the terminal's are connected in the interior," is my answer.
another employee comes to us and waved me through.
No frequent flyer on the SunExpress flights, the new security rules, unknown to these passengers.
Five minutes later I'm in the gate area, with a first look at this beautiful four engines on the tarmac.

129 is my gate, terminal 1 on ground floor. The officer at passport control checks me and my passport, once, twice and again.
Ok, my hair is much longer than in the photo, but I really am!.
What's going on?. He
me through.
close to the gate for boarding time, a flight with Lufthansa to Manchester from this area also.
What we think of German organization?.
The door between the gate is closed to Manchester and my, let's see what happens.
We set it before us, the passengers are under time pressure, after the boarding time, come from the passport control you want to open the door, the Stress begins, go to the Lufthansa gate with an already clearly irritated or employees back to passport control.
walking there and back, do not know where to go to. Then finally comes
the employee from check-in slowly around the corner, opens the door and immediately begins to board the waiting bus.
What a beautiful day here in Stuttgart

BHX (Birmingham International Airport)
EDI (Edinburgh Airport)

BE Service conducted 847 planned by Flybe
: 12.40 / / 13:50

"Follow the signs for the connecting flights," sounds good and
looks perfectly organized from here in Birmingham.
About ten characters and corners later, I'm in the audience, so far as is with the good organization.
up the stairs and happiness, the wait at the security check is not very long, ten minutes.
take off the shoes for me today, no problem.
the gate area for several minutes before the next image.
Edinburgh is the next Flight of Gate A16 on the screen, the price is again at about 40.00 €'s.

Flybe and Ryanair share the terminal, good for the operator of the shops. The usual approach here, a large shopping area and only few opportunities to see on the apron.

We make a few turns directly after the start of the track 33 in order to avoid other traffic.

No one before me at the security check, I make use of this opportunity.
Good view of the apron and the parked machines.
Comfortable seating, reasonable prices, so far ok here in Edinburgh.

LHR (London Heathrow Airport)
STR (Stuttgart Airport)

service BA 922 from British Airways
planned.: 20.10 / / 22:45

In the terminal, an employee checked up my boarding pass, the staircase and a surprise, no extra security check here.
Now I'm in the gate area.
A is 767 to me

G TTOE in the background, back to Edinburgh

Departures, Stuttgart from Gate 11

After the gate design, this should be my machine

I walk through the terminal to still buy something, the prices are still very cheap in the UK. I like Terminal 5, comfortable seats and not crowded during my recent visits.
When boarding starts a little later than planned is, but fast forward

Also on that flight, I checked online, the price is about € 50.00's booked, along with route No. 3
22A, the last row, window for me, but with a capacity of nearly 100% in my series, all three sites occupied.
G-EUPV is the planned Airbus A319, on a mission for British Airways since 13/02/2001.
one of 33 in the fleet.
flight No. 55 for me in this type and a new registration.
start of the 3901 meter track 27R, we take a quick entrance and do not use the full runway length.
It is 20.10 clock, time, 21.10 clock in Germany, light cloud cover and still 24 degrees.
This flight is in view of the cabin crew the best of the day.
Three men are deployed, the purser takes my boarding pass and greet me by name at the airplane door, also in German.
The other two flight attendants, very nice and talkative.
Dark blue leather seats, clean and with the packed series is the sense of place ok.
The pilot from the UK, a warm welcome during boarding.
A view from the top of Terminal 5

Lots of traffic, we are flying only 5,000 feet up-to-coast

The cabin

And the safety card

snacks and drinks on offer
out the route to Dover, Lille, Luxembourg and Karlsruhe to 39 000 feet.
The pilot with an equally nice adoption during the approach, he is later on the door and wished us good night.
landing on runway 07, the weather here in Stuttgart is also very nice, clear skies and 26 degrees. And all
clock at 22.30, feels like the tropics.
My seat when getting

A night view at the gate

few minutes at the passport control, without incident today
and on the way home.

British Airways with a great service to the London-Stuttgart route, the crew on Edinburgh London is ok.
The most interesting aircraft, the Embraer 195, a new entry in my logbook, and a machine that I like.
The crew on that flight takes the last place of these four routes.
And Edinburgh?.
Well known in the theory of various Ian Rankin and John Rebus books.
This nice weather is a good Place for a short visit.
I am impressed by the sheer number of tourists in the city.

Now it is in 10 days of Lithuania, if nothing intervenes, as always!.

soon, the trip
